I have to say I am WAY behind on my movie watching. Since re-marrying to a girl that just isn't in to going to the movies and now having a 9mo old, I just don't have near the time anymore. There are something like 100+ films in my Blockbuster queue with about 40 before I even break into 2009 films. So the other night I sat down and watched The Strangers.

Now the horror/suspense genre just isn't as good when you are older, at least not for me. Mindless gore (Hostel) doesn't do it for me. I like a smart story and something that gets my heart racing if it's going to be scary. I purposely watched this at night and alone (my wife hates scary movies) to maximize the effect. This film started off VERY strong IMO. Even though I was expecting it, there were so many things that creeped me the fuck out about this film. It was great.

But then the end came. It was as if the film just ended. No real climax, nothing, it just ended. I was like, WTF? It reminded me of the same feeling I got when I watched the movie "Signs". So in the end I felt this movie got 2 stars out of 5 for me. It really got me going but then let me down in a HUGE way. Several of my friends think this is just a fantastic addition to the horror/suspense drama, but it left me wanting the 85min of my life back.
